Elder Madsen

Elder madsen is from california and has been out 17 months, he experiances no pain and always carries 2 knifes with him at all times, Mostly because he has been shot at. he is a go getter. I learned that public transportation sucks. he is very determined especially since he only has a few changes. after my comp got ran over a guy took us down in his SUV. we didnt give him a blessing untill the hospital, when your toes are open fractured and shattered and gussing blood we just decided to get him back ASAP. i had to help him and basically lost sleep from what i saw. we had 3 other people helping us

More Trouble

I honestly dont know what to do for the phone call. my last number was 4144-9921 i think my new one is 4144-9926. I dont have a cell phone. just a phone between the companionship.

This week was crazy. Starting with last monday. Mom i think you should research the transportation of guatamala. to sum it up. CRAM EVERYONE IN, well we only have a bus that goes our way every hour. So basically me and my comp had our TOES on the step of the bus, hanging out holding onto bars outside. Well try that for 30 min and it gets pretty exausting. Needless to say my comp fell of, got ran over, shattered his middle 3 toes, and had an open fracture on two of them. blood was coming out of his shoe. i spent 3 days in the hospital and they pinned two of the toes and they will be alright. as for the second toe (thats the pointer finger on the RIGHT toe) anyway it didnt have circulation and they did or will cut it off. I dont really know! I go back to the hospital today. i think they will only cut off half of it though.
the rest of the week we ran around like little chickens. to our area, and 30 min away to ours. needless to say, im beat and have no money.
and today. well the people went on strike because they raised the price of the busses, from 2Q to 3Q 7.6 = 1 dollar. anyway they had the roads blocked off with whatever they could find. and the people wouldnt let us pass. and if we did pass they would hate missionaries forever. well the news castors finally came and we bailed. we hiked about 2.5 hours around the mountian, and another 2 to the capital.
but i will be in the hospital for a few days. i hope.

As for my new area, i cant take it. to many hills. it doesnt matter if i spend 25 hours a day doing ankle rehab if im walking on roads made of rocks the size of basketballs. I rolled my other ankle today but luckly it wasnt the bad one, im a huge guy and its hard on my knees.

anyway, that about sums up the week.

I dont know what to do about the phone call.

San Jose Nacahuil

San Jose Nacahuil is about one hour north of the capital, Guatemala City, over winding roads which are only intermittently asphalted. Distance-wise, it is only 18 kilometers. Statistics say that 70 percent of the folks here cannot read or write.

New Area - Nacahuil

well i got my area... its about an hour ride on a bus out of the capital on a huge mountian. my comp is elder madsen, my area is Nacahuil (knock a will). anyway my new district leader is a real jerk, so i only got about 15 to 30 min this week cause we missed the bus that only goes every hour.

My last area? Most dangerous area in central america, on elder was there for 6 months and over 100 ppl were killed. but i saw nothing. except a dead dog. And to tell ya the truth. I want to go back.

Um.. as for my foot. I soaked it one night and put cotton in it. after that my toe hardened up and well, i got sent to Sutherland, Nothing except little stores with candy. I dont know what else to do. It doesnt hurt when i walk on it. and i believe i got all the puss out. anyway i dont know.

my camera broke this week. it was in my bag and somehow the screen got broke. so i cant see what i am taking pictures of or what i just took.

Well. I am trying to survive. Anyway i will email you guys next week. nothing much here.
